Hello,

I've been using Delphi since version 3, so i'm not a newbie.

I used D3, D4, D6 and now we upgraded to D2007. Problem is i've noticed that everything in D2007 is very, very slow in comparison with D6. Obviously, i know it would be slower because the plenty of new features, but not so slow as it is...

For instance, when i'm coding and click F12 to see the form, D2007 takes about 2 or 3 seconds, in a project that in D6 this operation was real-time. Compilaton also seems to be two times slower.

My laptop is a Core Duo 2 GHZ with 2 GB ram, so is not a hardware problem.

Is there a way to make things better ? Something like disable some features i'll not use and stuff like this ?

Thanks.

Just to complete the post :

I also have the problems with Show component captions ; the component captions does not show after the first compile.

Another problem is that my main form also does not show after the first compile ; after this, it shows a blank form, but all the components is there, only not visible. I need to close D2007 and open it again, to see the main form.

I'm kind disappointed with this, as i use Delphi for such a long time with no problems at all ; and this 2007 version seems to be the more unstable version ever...

Any ideas would be very appreciated.

Thanks.

PS : I already applied the available updates.

And another weird behaviors i discovered in the last hours...

In some cases, when i compile the project, the whole screen keeps flashing very fast, and stops only when the compile finishes. Also there is a project we have that we can't close, because RAD Studio freezes on 60% cpu and we have to manually close it in the task manager...

Any ideas would be very appreciated.

Thanks.

I'd be happy if this is the cause of the problems... :)

Another problem or difference : in D6 , when debugging, i could put the mouse cursor in a variable and see its value. D2007 does not have this feature ?

Thanks

Ok, this is solved, thanks very much !

Now the problem is really causing me troubles is about component captions. I did a small video showing it, here is the link :

http://www.sendspace.com/file/30hznt

i've just created an application, put some components in the main form and component captions are visible. run the application, and when go back to RAD Studio, component captions aren't visible anymore.

TeamB, may i open a QC report ?

Thanks

Hello Viana,

The icons on my screen are also flashing when I start building a
project. I am working on Windows XP Pro.

Very strange, what has compiling a Delphi project to do with the desktop ?

Thanks God, i'm not crazy, the problem don't happens only with me :-)

I'm getting used with the flashes. What really bother me is the component captions don't appearing and everntually, even the components itself don't appear, and the only way to access them is selecting in the object inspector.

I think D2007 has great improvments, but these bugs are really a pain...

I'd like to hear some advice from TeamB. Please help us.

Thanks,
Viana
